For single men
Join the New Athens Corp of Engineers, the sane alternative to college, and build a city for your community, not a mountain of debt for yourself. The Corp is a hybrid of classical education, trade school, and residential construction labor in a disciplined environment modeled on military service. Men and women are assigned to a 30-person unit and commit to a 3-year tour of duty. Upon graduation, you’ll receive full ownership of a single-family home. While you work, date. Single women in New Athens have self-selected to prioritize hard work, sanity, and interest in starting a family. We invite you to join us.
Build a city. Own a home.
Out: Porn, drugs, video games, gambling, doomscrolling, and people who think you’re a piece of shit. In: Join the New Athens Corp of Engineers.
The New Athens Corp of Engineers is an alternative to college. It’s a hybrid of classical education, tradeschool, and residential construction labor in a strictly disciplined enviornment modeled on military service. Men and women are assigned to a 150-person unit and commit to a 4-year tour of duty.
- Your final project will be to design and spec your own single family home. You will build the home with your unit and be granted full ownership upon graduation. To increase your budget you may extend your enlistment.
- Basic training: A 6-week program of basic fitness and introductory instruction in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, steelwork, and masonry.
- Daytime: Manual construction labor on a small team. Go deep in at least one trade under the direction of journeymen instructors. Over your tour of duty, contribute to the construction of dozens of new homes.
- Evenings: Coursework in classical education, centered on classical literature and the great books of the Western canon.
- The product: Alongside other teams and units, build a city for your friends, neighbors, and future wife and children.
- Pay: free room and board and federal minimum wage.
