Help bring New Athens to life

Option 1: Join us locally at our office in Southeast Ohio

We operate out of a former industrial laundromat in Athens, Ohio. (No relation.) It’s picturesque.

Volunteers commit to projects, which we track on a large cork board at the office. Projects vary: some take less than a day, others multiple weeks; some require specialized skills, others elbow grease; some require talking to strangers, others you can handle alone with a podcast in your ear.

Don’t be shy—starting a city from scratch takes every kind of person. Email jobs@movetonewathens.com to schedule a visit, and together we’ll pick out a meaningful project you’ll enjoy taking on.

Option 2: Join us online as a remote collaborator

More than once, a very smart and/or obsessed person has reached out with an idea to contribute to New Athens. These conversations have been universally fascinating and sometimes led to real collaboration. So we’re officially inviting more people like this out of the woodwork, perhaps yourself included.

If you’re intrigued by New Athens and have an idea you think we should integrate into the vision for the city, email us a short proposal (300 words is more than enough) at jobs@movetonewathens.com.

We’ll tell you quickly whether we think your idea has legs and schedule a follow-up call if it does. On the call we’ll talk through the idea, and if everything feels good we’ll scope a project together, including how to credit you and a potential budget for expenses.
