Long-term human survival requires we solve two problems whose solutions are in direct conflict with each other, and always will be. Our success in solving these problems must forever be kept in balance, or humans will go extinct. These two problems are also the hardest problems that exist in the world today: colonizing other planets so a large disaster on Earth does not cause us to go extinct, and not committing suicide through infertility and population collapse.
